- was formed on the basis of Yerevan State banks and saving banks’ trade unions joint committee (1977)

- BRU founders are the Central Bank, Haykhnay Bank, Haynerart Bank, Anelik Bank, Development Bank , Hayagrobank and Armincassation department of trade union organizations

- BRU organizes its work in accordance with the Charter, under the requirements of the Strategic Program, where the issues concerning the protection of the Labor Law, strengthening the relations with the primary trade union organizations and individual approach towards each member are highlighted

- In the condition of holding economic market relations BRU finds its primary task to be the articulation and protection of the socio-economic interests of the employees. The Tripartite Agreement between BRU, CBA and BU is the sound evidence of everything stated above.

- is a member of the World Trade Union UNI since 01.10.2001, office location Switzerland, Neon. Thanks to the support and work of UNI the BRU cooperates with similar trade unions of the world.

- Since 2002 November 26 – is a member of the Confederation of Trade Unions in Armenia.

- Board of Trustees operates association with the BRU. Their attention is fixed on the retired employees of the system, their daily troubles and needs.

-Traditionally we hold sociological studies among the employees of the system, after summarizing the result of which new programs are being designed to express the interests of the members. The contract between the Trade Union and the employer is an important document which includes, personnel trainings of the employees, their work and health protection issues, socio-economic programs for the benefit of workers' welfare.

President of the Branch Republican Union Laura Hakobyan

Born in 1952, March 6. Higher education: Foreign Language Specialist, since 1977 to 1985 worked in the Soviet Union VTB bank, department in Yerevan. Since 1985 to 2002 was elected as Yerevan Banks and saving banks workers’ Trade Union Joint Committee president. In 2002 was elected as the president of the Branch Republican Union of Banks, Financial Institutions Employees and Professional Employees of Trade of Armenia where she works until present.

What does the Branch Republican Union do nowadays

The mission of the Branch Republican Union of Banks, Financial Institutions Employees and Professional Employees of Trade of Armenia is to protect the interests of the employees, conduct professional consultations, clarify issues concerning the Labor Code, to become integrated into the international trade union structures and the introduction of advanced experience, conduct sociological surveys and organize reconciliation events, provides financial assistance to the retired employees of the system and socially vulnerable groups, take part in every initiative which will contribute to raising living standards and welfare of all employees.
